Most “Not Expected” moments of the Oscars:

reg_634-theron-tatum-cm-22413_copy

1- Charlize Theron and Channing Tatum became dance partners and waltzed on stage. Too bad his “Magic Mike” co-stars didn’t join in on the action.

2- Harry Potter and Bella Swan presented at the Oscars!! For once, the “tweens” recognized some of the actors present at the ceremony.

reg_1024.jlawfalling.cm.224133-Yes, Jennifer Lawrence just won an Oscar. And, yes, she just became the second-youngest Best Actress recipient ever. And, yes she did trip while going up the stairs to accept her Oscar and yes she did blame it on her over the top Dior dress.

images (1)

We’re mad for this Mad Men-era gem, starring the incomparable Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly. Quirky, vulnerable, and stunning in a little black dress, socialite Holly charms all of New York, especially her new neighbor, struggling writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard). Just try not to cry as Holly and Paul search in the rain for her no-name cat and “Moon River” soars on the score.

5. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

tumblr_mde22uqhZ71rl2c5yo1_400

A fresh take on the tale as old as time, this Disney classic is pure enchantment. Paige O’Hara voices smart, independent Belle, who’s imprisoned by the hideous Beast (Robby Benson), but comes to love the soulful guy. The first animated film nominated for a Best Picture Oscar,Beauty dazzles with elegant visuals and infectious musical numbers. Want to sing along? Be our guest.

4. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

Brokeback-mountain-original

Forget all those parodies and “can’t quit you” jokes, because Ang Lee‘s monumental Mountain is a heartbreaking, groundbreaking love story. Heath Ledgerand Jake Gyllenhaal play Wyoming ranch hands who share a tent, some horseplay and ultimately a strong emotional bond for two decades. Ledger’s untimely death adds another sad dimension to this devastating drama. Grab your handkerchiefs and saddle on up.

3- THE NOTEBOOK

The-Notebook

Ryan Gosling made women around the country swoon when he romanced Rachel McAdams in this 2004 flick based on the popular Nicholas Sparks novel about a couple who fall in love in the 1940s and these catchprases like: If you’re a bird I’m a bird” and “It wasen’t over, It still isnt over” with the lake, rain and epic kiss still haunts our poor romantic hearts

2. GONE WITH THE WIND

images (2)

Frankly, my dear, we do give a damn! Even after all these years, the tempestuous coupling of rakish cad Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) and quintessential steel magnolia Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) sets our hearts aflutter! This gorgeous, sweeping Civil War romance is still the highest-grossing movie of all time, when adjusted for inflation. Think you can top that, Avatar? Fiddle-dee-dee!

1. CASABLANCA

Casablanca1

Play it, Sam. Play this movie over and over again. It has everything: Bogie! Bergman! Nazis! We’re reduced to sentimental saps every time we watch nightclub owner Rick (Humphrey Bogart) reconnect with former flame Ilsa (ravishing Ingrid Bergman). A 1944 Best Picture Oscar winner, Casablanca is so iconic it inspiredWoody Allen‘s Play It Again, Sam and scenes in When Harry Met Sally… As time goes by, we’ll always have Paris….

Beyonce’s touchdown at the SuperBowl

In an epic return to form, Beyoncé presided over a Super Bowl halftime show featuring 135 dancers, one fiery guitarist, 2,000 people on the field…and two old friends: Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child.

reg_1024.destinys.ls.2313_copy

The show started off, appropriately enough, with Bey alone on stage, strutting (and singing, really) a live version of “Love on Top,” followed by “Crazy in Love,” in a hot corset of black leather and lace by designer Rubin Singer with matching knee-high boots.

reg_1024.beyonce.ls.2313

A line of backup dancers then joined the megastar, treating the crowd to a killer performance “End of Time.”

The energetic concert then moved into a video-enhanced  rendition of “Baby Boy” before the worst-kept secret of the night finally happened: A Destiny’s Child reunion. Bey teamed with erstwhile bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland for three back-to-back songs: “Bootylicious,” “Independent Women Part I “and “Single Ladies.”

beyonce-super-bowl-performance-02032013-01-580x435

For the record, there was a backing track, but it was used mostly as just that—backup singing—so that Bey could rock her now-classic “Single Ladies” choreography.

The megastar launched into “Halo” next. She was solo for that, but made the ecstatic crowd her backup performers by rocking out within inches of them.

“Thank you for this moment,” she told the crowd.

Watch the Full show of Beyonce right here!

No, really, seriously, Beyoncé: Thank you.

What did you think of the show? Did she salvage her reputation after the whole “lip-synching” incident?

The stars certainly pulled out all the stops on the red carpet at the 2013 SAG Awards tonight.

From flawless mermaid silhouettes to magnificent embellished designs, there was no shortage of unstoppable glamour from our favorite leading ladies including Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman. Naomi Watts sparkled in a metallic Marchesa design, while Chastain flaunted her figure in a curve-hugging Alexander McQueen gown that exuded sultry elegance, suitable for the stunning redhead.

We especially loved unexpectedly bold colors seen on Nina Dobrev, Giuliana Rancic, Freida Pinto among others.

reg_1024.lips.ls.12713_copy

The stars had us seeing red at the 2013 SAG Awards. We spotted many a leading lady finish off her red carpet look with bold, look-at-me red lips that added an extra dose of glamour to their already gorgeous looks. Best outstanding female actress in a supporting role, Anne Hathaway, also scored a win with her sultry crimson pout, while Jennifer Lawrence went for a more retro glam vibe with a ruby red pout paired with a side part and soft curls. Meanwhile, Kelly Osbourne went for a decidedly more modern look, offsetting her trademark purple locks with a red lip for a colorful red carpet beauty moment.

Movie Review- The hobbit- An Unexpected journey

Movie Review:
hobbit-unexpected-journey-poster2-bilbo-sword-610x902
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths ofguile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” …a simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
Trailer:
  1. Cast:

    Ian McKellen; Gandalf

    Morgan Freeman: Bilbo

    Cate Blanchett: Galadriel

  2. Hobbit movie: Silly and overstuffed, but reasonably fun. And, dude, the elf king rides a war moose! #win
  3. #10BestMoviesEver The Hobbit. JK THAT WAS BORING AS HELL! I sleep for half hour wake up & STILL watch 3 hours of that movie!
  4. The first midnight movie I watched in a cinema without falling asleep is The Hobbit! So Legendary and Adventurous!
  5. Finally got to see The Hobbit in 3D last night. They did a great job with the story, but it looked like an animated movie.
  6. watched ‘The Hobbit’! an amazingly epic movie!! ❤ it!! 😀
  7. Critics:

Washington Post: “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” has finally arrived, not on wings of gossamer fancy but with a hairy-footed thud.”

Ok!Magazine: Like the sad, bug-eyed Gollum, moviegoers may not have realized how much they missed movies like this onscreen in the past several years.”

The Popcorn junkie:”A wild and visually stunning quest through a fantasy world all done with the noble spirit of courage and goodwill.”

    In Touch reviews:

The prequel of the Lord of the Rings series has not lost its charm. The performance of Morgan Freeman as the young Bilbo is extraordinary. He captures perfectly the innocence, smartness and loyalty of the halfling. The adventures and battle scenes are epic and make the time pass by. We cannot wait for the next two movies.

Movie review- Les Miserables

Movie of the week:

Les Miserables

images

Synopsis:

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette (Seyfried), their lives change forever. In December 2012, the world’s longest-running musical brings its power to the big screen in Tom Hooper’s sweeping and spectacular interpretation of Victor Hugo’s epic tale.

Actors:

Jean Valjean: Hugh Jackman

Fantine: Anne Hathaway

Cosette: Amanda Seyfried

Javert: Russel Crowe

Trailer:

Critics:

New Yorker: “Fans of the original production, no doubt, will eat the movie up, and good luck to them. I screamed a scream as time went by »

Guardian (UK) : “At the end of 158 minutes, you really have experienced something. What exactly, I’m still not sure »

DailyExpress : « C’est magnifique. »

Financial times : “This is a movie about suffering with no jagged edges”

collage1

In Touch reviews:

Fans of the Victor Hugo epic novel “Les Miserables” will be kind-of disappointed if they manage to watch the whole movie in theaters. Les Miserables sheds the light on the poverty, misery and most importantly the importance of the French revolution and the hunger for Liberte, Egalite,Fraternite which was well portrayed during the movie. However, you cannot but flinch when you hear the actors take very “French” and “patriotic chants” and twist them in English accents. The movie is long, very long and the continuous singing does not help the viewers. However, if you ever manage to sit through the 3 hour long movie and the wonderful performances of the actors ensemble ( and yes it is  Borat who is playing the role of the hotel-keeper)  you will probably have shed some tears and wished you were present during the French revolution to chant and fight among these young and fearless young men and women.

American Music Awards

Don’t you just love award shows?

This weekend was the 40th anniversary for the American Music Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and hosted by none other than Ryan Seacrest.

But in case you missed out on all the fun, we’ve boiled it down to the most noteworthy moments from the show, including a complete winner’s list!

Most Endurance Award Goes To..: We all know Usher’s got the moves, but all the dance breaks during his performance at the show’s open deserves props. He was literally running at one point.

Best Use of Sass: OK, Bieber, we see you. The young pop singer won tonight’s first award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, and started his acceptance speech with, “This is for all the haters who thought that maybe I was just here for one or two years. But, I feel like I’m gonna be here for a very long time.”

Worst Separation Anxiety: So, Carly Rae Jepsen performed her new song, “This Kiss.” It’s not that it was bad, but it was no “Call Me Maybe.” We’re just not ready to see her sing something else. Luckily, she included the annoyingly catchy song in her performance.

Best Attempt at Saving Paper: There were no envelopes tonight. Nope. Winners were revealed through a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Oh, you fancy, huh? Yes, yes they are.

Worst Crowd Reaction: Kelly Clarkson’s medley of her greatest hits reminded us why we fell in love with her in the first place. But when she held the microphone out for the crowd to sing, “Since you been gone,” nothing was sung. Oops.

Best Girl Power Moment: Nicki Minaj took home two awards, one for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and also Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. Super-exciting, right? But for whatever reason, she just seemed tired  on stage.

Worst Lady Gaga Impersonation: Seriously,Ke$ha, what’s going on with those leotard outfits? And you didn’t even throw glitter and make it rain.

Hottest Rockstar Mom: The mystery of the night is this: Does Gwen Stefani age? No, really. When she took the stage with No Doubt it was like it was 1995 again (in a good way).

Best Surprise: It seems like Red is introducing fans to a whole new side of Taylor Swift—well, it still has to do with boys, but when she performed “I Knew You Were Trouble” from her upcoming album, she was all on the floor and whipping her hair.

Cutest Acceptance Speech: Aw, gee, Luke Bryan! The country crooner took home his first AMA and was like a little kid on Christmas. Between his dancing and “woo“-ing, he mentioned his little kids.

Best Use of an Adult Diaper: Minaj rocked some white, sparkly underpants for her performance, which may or may not be an adult diaper. Probably not, but just so you know.

This Just In: Singer P!nk is apparently a master at expressing herself through the art of dance (with the help of body paint), as she showed the audience when performing an interpretive piece along with singing her song “Try.”

Interesting Change of Pace: Ditching the flashing lights and dance moves (at least for the first half of his performance) was Biebs, who sang “As Long As You Love Me” while sitting on a bar stool next to a guitarist. Maybe a certain something and someone inspired him?

Best Addition: Whether you love or hate it, house music has made it’s way to the AMAs. For the first time ever, the awards show has included an Electronic Dance Music category to honor the top deejays in the industry. This year, it was all David Guetta.

What the Heck Moment: Christina Aguilera’s performance was, um, interesting. Her song was to celebrate everyone for who they are (a little “Born This Way” type), which is great. For once, she wasn’t the one wearing the most makeup on stage.

Best PDA: Presenter Jenny McCarthy(who was workin’ those eyeglasses) kissing Bieber all over the neck and even grabbing his bum when he got on stage to accept his second award—a display she described afterward as “cougar rape.”

Best Decision: Thank goodness, Chris Brown decided to shave off his highlighter hair. That didn’t seem to help with the heat though, because he still took off his shirt while jumping around like a maniac on stage.

Worst Outfit: Look, Carrie Underwood’s performance dress was not bad at all. The problem was that it practically hid those legs that everyone loves seeing so much. Not cool.

Best Party Pal: Who wants to party with Pitbull? Everyone. That guy is just a ball of Cuban fun and energy.

Greatest Ending Ever: Don’t lie, you know the dance—Psy got the crowd going with “Gangnam Style.” And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, MC Hammergot on stage and they mixed the Korean dance song with “Too Legit to Quit.”
